Craft a saddle from three leather and one iron ingot; saddles can also come from loot, fishing, trading, and certain mob drops. Crafting grid Source

Practical uses

Saddles let riders control horses, camels, and nautiluses; pigs and striders still need a carrot on a stick or warped fungus on a stick for steering. Source

Mechanics

A saddle has no durability. It can be equipped directly on eligible animals and removed with shears from pigs and striders. Source
